Supporters of government provided healthcare: please send me a check for 100 dollars.

I have a pyogenic granuloma (google it; it's quite disgusting) and it must be surgically removed. I am rather destitute at the moment, and can't really afford surgery. With about 7 or 8 of these checks, I think I could swing it. So, compassionate liberals, get those pens out and start writing!

What do Christians have faith in?

Often, I hear that if God were proven, faith would have no purpose anymore, because Christians must have faith that God exists rather than know it. Is the mere fact of God's existence what Christian faith is directed toward though? I don't think so. To have faith in someone implies something a little stronger than just believing that they are real. As the Bible says, even the demons believe in God. I can't help but think that simply believing in God's existence is far less important than people make it out to be.

The Real Catholic Church?

Douglas Wilson recently posted about how culture today pursues this grimy 'realism' that isn't truly realistic at all. I started thinking; nearly every portrayal of the Catholic Church that I've seen come out of hollywood has been rather negative, focusing on how hypocritical or degenerate it is. Is that really what people think of the Catholic Church?

How to deconstruct almost anything

I donated blood today

Presumably for victims of the New Orleans flooding. I almost passed out; it was great. I've never donated blood before. I may never do it again. I could actually feel the blood pumping out of me.

In other news, natural gas is going to go up big time. In price, that is, not a fireball. That means one thing: the Weber household will not be heated this winter.

What is the 'cycle of poverty'?

What indicators would I look for in my life that would tell me whether I was living in a cycle of poverty?

As I see it...

four things must be shown to establish global warming as a problem:

1. that the planet is warming up
2. that greenhouse gas concentrations are rising
3. that the warming is attributable to rising levels of greenhouse gases
4. that the rise in greenhouse gases is attributable to human activity
